How they grow!

The girls are doing so well. We are starting to read first reader style books all by themselves!!! It's so impressive to me to have a Kindergarten student sit down and read! What a wonderful thing. I just upadted Sabrina's blog with some very cute cookie baking party pictures which include the Kindergarten group. Tomorrow we are celebrating Valentines day so I should have some very fun pictures on this blog for you soon.

Here are some recent photos that I found of the group.

Take care,
Liz

Where did we leave off???

It has been a LONG time since I have had a chance to update this blog, but the school year is just days away from starting and I wanted to start everything on the right foot. So here we are, School starts on Monday August 11! Lilly is off to Kindergarten with some of her book club friends and the others that will be in different schools will hopefully join us at book club.

(Lilly at Epcot)

Lilly will be one of the oldest kids in her class since she is a month away from turning 6 and she can't wait to celebrate it!

(Lilly with her Mr. brett)

This year in book club I am hoping to have the girls READING very first reader books. They are very simple books but I think they can do it. We will also be planting fall vegetables and harvesting them in November. We will be hosting the Christmas Cooking Baking Party this year and that should again be tons of fun!

(Lilly at Animal Kingdon this summer)

I am hoping that I will be able to update this blog after each book club because the girls will have camera days. They will have their own day to take pictures of our book club. I hope this goes smoothly and if it does then around christmas we will use those pictures to create scrapbooks that the girls can take home as holidays gifts.

So here's to the 08-09 school year!

It's Lilly time!!

She might have been sick but we managed to open a few presents.

Here are some great pictures of Lilly's class Christmas party.

They had a "hot potato" book exchange and she got a wonderful book that we read all the time!

the girls and I are starting to work on our letter recognition and very soon we'll be doing some extra work on writing. They love listening to the books with their snack at club time, but they are growing to that in between stage where a year from now we can start reading on our own with lots of help. But for now we are trying to concentrate on writing correctly. All the girls are so cute and very smart. I think Kindergarten will be a great time for all of them.

December 5th book club day!

During our meeting last week we learned all about Hanukkah. The girls had fun pretending to be asleep when we reinacted the celebration of the 8 nights of Hanukkah. We also talked about the miracle that happened when the Jewish people went back to their temple to dedicate it and one days worth of lamp oil burned for 8 nights, thus the celebration goes on for eight nights. We also read books about Jewish traditions and we played with a couple different kinds of driedels. Emma and Maddie brought the menorah that is in this picture. We had a fun time.

Our next meeting is scheduled for the 20th. We will be celebrating Christmas traditions then.

Invite them and they will come ...

We now have 4 little girls in our storytime club. The girls seem to be having a great time. So far Megan and Lilly have made Fall books and then we all had a Halloween Party.

At our Halloween party we made halloween cookies and halloween trail mix that contained candies spider eggs (gumballs), dehydrated bat wings (doritos), and Freeze Dried Blood (red hots) and many more spooky ingredients!

We made leaf prints and read several books. We also made Thanksgiving place mats and learned where the fork, knife and spoon go on the table.

We have had one meeting after halloween but I didn't take any pictures then. Next week is our first meeting in December and it has been almost a month since the last meeting. We skiped the book club meeting that was supposed to be on 11/22. This coming meeting we are going to read books and do a Hannukkah project. Then on the 20th we will be doing some Christmas projects.

See you soon girls.

We have invited more little girls!

We have some sad news from our last meeting. The little girl that was supposed to come over for storytime was unable to attend that day so Lilly has decided to invite more girls from her class to "beef up" her club. She loves the little girl that she currently has coming but I think there may be a little bit of competition over Sabrina's club. Sabrina has 6 faithful members and has recently invited one more! So lilly is bound and determined to beat that number. So far we have our current friend and Storytime member, Meagan, and we have two other little girls that have confirmed that they can make it! We're very excited and it looks like the halloween party that was supposed to take place last week will happen this week, tomorrow in fact!

We'll have pictures of that later on.

Lilly went to the pumpkin patch last week with her school. They all had a great time! Here are some fun pictures of that.

They had a petting zoo and hayrides. It was a ton of fun!!

Everyone went home with a pie pumpkin!
